Ten young men detained by Delhi Police for suspected ideological leanings towards the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were released on 9 May due to lack of adequate evidence against them.
Sessions were arranged for four of of them with a clinical psychologist to help them to “deradicalise”. The guardians of six others were asked to ensure that they remain on the right path henceforth.
No Further Arrests Made
Delhi Police’s anti-terrorism unit Special Cell had picked up 13 young men from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh after a series of late night raids on May 3, following which three others – Sajid, Sameer Ahmed, and Shakir Ansari were arrested and the remaining 10 detained for questioning.
According to Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Arvind Deep, during questioning, it emerged that the youths had extreme anger within them as a result of which they were vulnerable, making them potential inductees in terror rings, Deep said, adding that so far there is no evidence to make further arrests in the case.

Cyber Evidence
However, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) which deals with cyber security threats provided investigators with crucial leads and input which can be considered incriminating evidence, a senior police official said.
He said the input provided by CERT-In largely includes decoded date exchanged in Whatsapp groups, e-mails, Facebook chats and secured conversations. Investigators interrogating the three arrested youths said they were shown videos pertaining to alleged atrocities against Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarnagar and Iraq to induct them into the outfit and execute terror strikes in the national capital.
The Special Cell had claimed to have recovered one live and one damaged Improvised Explosive Device (IED), jihadi literature, indoctrination videos and other incriminating material from their possession.
