Two Children Die as Rain-soaked Wall Collapses in Odisha

Two children aged between 5 and 8 years died as a rain-soaked wall collapsed in Sambalpur, Odisha.

Two children were killed when a portion of a rain-soaked wall collapsed at Tabalakata village in Odisha’s Sambalpur district today, Sambalpur police said.

The boys were playing in the courtyard of a house in the village located under Kuchinda police station jurisdiction, when a portion of the earthen wall suddenly caved in – according to Inspector In-Charge of Kuchinda police station P K Meher.

The two children were rushed to Kuchinda hospital where doctors declared them dead. The deceased were identified as Tarani Pruseth and and Ranjan Sahu, both aged between 5 and 8 years.

Incessant rain has lashed Sambalpur district, particularly Kuchinda sub-division, for the last three days, disrupting normal life.
