Telecom companies will have to pay Re 1 for every call that is dropped. The Cellular Operators Authority of India (COAI) on Thursday said that the existing regulations on call drops set by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will stand at least for the time being.
COAI’s Rajan Mathews made the announcement after meeting TRAI chairman RS Sharma. Mathews also said that a joint team of TRAI and members from the industry will meet once every two weeks to discuss results of call drop testing after a methodology is adopted.
Regulator TRAI had ordered telecom operators to pay Re 1 per call drop starting January 2016.
