- Delhi Police on Wednesday has arrested the superintendent of a children’s home in Lajpat Nagar, after he was accused of allegedly raping two minor girls from the facility.
- The issue had come to the fore after Delhi Women and Child Welfare minister Sandeep Kumar met with the girls at the facility on 3 June. Upon being informed of the issue, the minister asked the girls to lodge a complaint against the superintendent under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
- The minister also ordered the termination of two officials based on the complaints.
A woman welfare officer, also allegedly involved, has been fired.
