West Bengal transport minsiter Madan Mitra has resigned from his post after being accused in the Saradha chit fund scam, Raj Bhavan officials told the media.
A member of the Trinamool Congress, Mitra was granted conditional bail on October 31, after 10 months of arrest.
On November 5, he was placed under house arrest at his residence in Bhawanipore in South Kolkata, West Bengal.
Charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and misappropriation of funds were levied against him. He held a post in the Saradha Group of Companies at the time of his arrest in 2014.
