- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurating the two-day Rajasva Gyan Sangam at Vigyan Bhavan on Thursday, asked tax officers to move towards digitisation in order to make tax administration better and more efficient.
- Addressing the revenue collection arms of the government, CBDT and CBEC at the event, PM Modi urged them to remove fear of harassment from the mind of the taxpayers, and focus on the five pillars of administration – revenue, accountability, probity, information and digitisation.
- Modi also emphasised that the behaviour of the tax officers should be “soft and sober”, revealed Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha while briefing reporters about the meeting.
