Rajnikanth, Sania Mirza and Priyanka Chopra Given Padma Awards

President Pranab Mukherjee presented five Padma Vibhushan, eight Padma Bhushan and 43 Padma Shri awards at the Padma Awards ceremonies this year. Superstar Rajinikanth was conferred with India’s second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan in the capital on Tuesday.

Besides Rajinikanth, actress Priyanka received the Padma Shri, singer Udit Narayan and tennis player Sania Mirza were awarded the Padma Bhushan.

On March 28, actors Ajay Devgn and Anupam Kher and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar received their Padma Awards.

Rajnikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth posted pictures of her father and mother at the award function.

Tennis champion Sania Mirza tweeted a picture of her holding the Padma Bhushan Award.

Priyanka Chopra, who was in the United States shooting for her Hollywood film Baywatch, flew down to India from Montreal to receive the honour.
