As many as six Naxals in plain clothes fired at Nagose when he was standing near the stage and immediately fled into the jungle, police added.

The jawan, who sustained injuries, was brought to the General Hospital at Gadchiroli, by a helicopter and was declared dead during treatment.

Police further informed that following the incident, anti-Naxal operations have been intensified in the area.
