Speaking to jawans on the border, the Prime Minister said he salutes those who sacrificed their lives for the country.

Upon reaching Gurez, the Prime Minister exchanged sweets with the jawans. “Happy to know they practice yoga regularly,” he later tweeted.

Army chief General Bipin Rawat, Northern Command chief Lt General Devraj Anbu, and Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen J S Sandhu accompanied the Prime Minister.

Modi had spent Diwali with the people of Kashmir in 2014 in the aftermath of the devastating floods in the Valley.
