Pakistan has announced plans to resume screening Indian films in local theatres from 19 December, Dawn reported.
Freaky Ali, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, will be the first Indian film to be screened.
Cinemas in Pakistan had banned the screening of Bollywood films after India clamped down on Pakistani actors in the film industry. The stand-off came days after the Uri attack, which claimed the lives of at least 19 soldiers.
Pakistani cinema owners said on Saturday that they had suspended the screening of Indian movies, but had not completely banned screening Bollywood content, Dawn reported.
According to cinema owners, the movies which could not be screened due to the suspension of Indian content will be screened first.
"We lifted the suspension as a cinema guild. We took this decision to support them (Indian cinemas) and expect them to support us," said a cinema owner.
Pakistan is considered to be the third-largest market for Indian films and the self-imposed suspension has reportedly caused a dramatic dent in revenue. Indian films returned to Pakistani cinema houses in 2008, 43-years after a ban was imposed during the 1965 war.
