Five victims of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots were allegedly beaten up by some residents of their native village when they went there for some work.

A police complaint was lodged against six people in this connection.

Meanwhile, angry over the incident, hundreds of locals protested and blocked roads at Shahpur town. They also demanded arrest of the accused villagers.

Over 60 people were killed and more than 40,000 displaced in a communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and its adjoining areas in September 2013.
