Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan and BJP MLA Suresh Rana surrendered in a court in Muzaffarnagar and were granted bail on Friday.
A warrant was issued against them for failing to appear in a court hearing, in connection to a 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots case.
It is alleged that the accused participated in the Nadala Mador panchayat meeting and incited violence through their speeches in the last week of August 2013. The communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in August and September 2013 had claimed 60 lives and displaced over 40,000 people.

According to the prosecution, they are facing charges under various sections of IPC for violating prohibitory orders, deterring public servants from discharging their duties and also wrongful restraint.
The court also issued bailable warrants against BJP MLA Sangeet Som and Sadhvi Prachi after they failed to appear in court on Friday. It fixed January 23 as the next date of hearing.
