Meat in Akhlaq’s House Was Goat Not Beef: Chief Veterinary Officer

In the latest development in the Dadri lynching incident, the chief veterinarian assigned to the case revealed that the meat in his house, over which Mohammed Akhlaq was killed, was goat’s meat and not beef.

In an investigative report done by The Quint, an unreported eyewitness and Akhlaq’s friend, spoke to our reporter and said it was understood that the killing was not over the possession and consumption of beef but a possible personal grudge.

Akhlaq was lynched to death by a mob, allegedly for consuming cow meat. Nearly three months after his death, a chargesheet was filed against 15 people, of whom two were arrested and the rest absconding.
