Faujis Left Angered Over Punjab Govt’s Cow Cess on Alcohol

- Around three lakh ex-army men and soldiers posted in Punjab are insisting that the government’s cow cess on liquor are depriving them of their privilege of acquiring liquor at concessional rates, The Times of India reported.
- A week ago, the Punjab government had announced a levy of Rs 10 on IMFL bottles and Rs 5 on bottles of beer as ‘gau sewa’ cess.
- Fauji groups are now planning on writing letters to the government to protest against the hike which they term as “unreasonable and illogical”.
