Former Miss Baghdad and Iraqi social media star, Tara Fares was shot dead in Baghdad, reported CNN.
Fares was in a vehicle in Baghdad’s Camp Sara neighbourhood when two motorcyclists fired at her. According to CNN, the matter is being investigated by Iraq’s Interior Ministry.
Fares was famous for her bold clothing and social media posts, reported CNN. Following her death, her instagram followers are sharing a black and white photo of Fares, accompanied with a caption labelling the incident “treacherous and cowardly.”

Just two days before Fares was shot at, a female human rights activist was killed in Basra, Iraq. According to CNN, in August, a plastic surgeon and women medical affairs specialist and the owner of a beauty centre were also murdered in Baghdad.
Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has ordered the Interior Ministry and Iraq’s intelligence department to probe this spate of crimes.
