Windlass Steel has been manufacturing Game of Thrones merchandise for millions of fans of the epic TV series in the hilly town of Dehradun.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sugandha Windlass said:
We are the only manufacturer of licensed garments for Game of Thrones in India. Harry Potter and the Star Wars costumes did well, but the Game of Thrones costumes have been among the most popular.
They’ve also produced replica costumes for Rome, Spartacus, Gone with the Wind, 300 and 300 - Rise of an Empire.
But the bad news is that they do not retail in India, everything goes straightaway to US or Europe.
Windlass Steelcrafts which was established in the 1940s specialises in manufacturing swords and sabres and other weaponry.
As they started making replicas of old and famous weaponry, they gained international attention.
We gave 800 swords to HBO’s Rome, the knife James Bond throws at the end in Skyfall was ours, we gave some props to The Tudors as well. Remember the sword Liam Neeson had in Batman Begins? That was ours too!Pradeep Windlass, Chairman of Windlass Steel
