Dawood: If I Was Behind Mumbai Blasts, Police Would Have No Proof
Dawood Ibrahim said that if he was behind the Mumbai blasts, they would be executed with finesse.
In his soon-to-be-released book, Dial D for Don, former top cop Neeraj Kumar writes that Dawood had called him up on his mobile phone just weeks before his retirement. According to The Times of India, Kumar was quite sure that the call was made by the don himself.
The report says that Kumar had spoken with Dawood Ibrahim on three different occasions in 1994 when he was probing the Mumbai blasts and the don tried to convince him that he was innocent.
“The don spoke in a typical Mumbai accent, with confidence and an utter lack of fear. He made no attempt to please me, as certain criminals are wont to do when they are dealing with state authorities. He simply said: ‘Saheb, iske pehle ki main kuchh bataoon, pehle aap batayiye ki aapko kya lagta hai ki maine Mumbai mein blast karwaye hain?’ (Sir, before I tell you anything, would you please tell me whether you too feel that I organized the blasts in Mumbai?),” Kumar says.
In response, Kumar asked whether Dawood and his ‘boys’ had enough RDX for the serial blasts. Ibrahim apparently fumbled for words, before saying that if he were indeed responsible, he would have done it with such finesse that the police would have no proof of his involvement.
