The Pune police on Wednesday served notices to 17 FTII students warning them of action if they create law and order situation when Gajendra Chauhan takes charge as the chairman of the institute on Thursday, reports Hindustan Times.
The Deccan police issued notices to 17 students who held FTII director Prashant Pathrabe captive during their strike. In their notice, police said action will be taken against students if they create trouble on the campus, creating law and order problem. On Thursday, Chauhan will chair his first FTII Society meeting.
“We will be finalising the governing council and then other agenda will be discussed,” Chauhan told IANS.
The FTII appointment episode saw many twists and turns. The students called off their strike after 139 days against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the chief. A bevy of celebrated FTII alumnus marked their protest by returning several government honours.
Though Chauhan is not hassled by the protests as he says “it’s about fulfilling the responsibility”.
I have been ordered by the government, and I will do my job. Let me go there and see. I can’t comment on what they will do, but I am ready to do my job.
