Honeypreet Slips Away From Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh: Report

The search for Honeypreet Insan intensified with the Rajasthan and Haryana police launching a manhunt in the village of Hanumangarh, in Rajasthan.

Honeypreet was reportedly hiding in a girl’s school but the police did not find her there. As per News 18 reports, the Haryana SIT team is headed backed to Panchkula with some evidence that they have uncovered from the site.

Earlier, the police had been patrolling Indo-Nepal border in Maharajganj and adjoining districts to nab jailed Honeypreet.

Police on Wednesday said that officials from central and state intelligence agencies have been camping here for the past couple of days and keeping a strict eye on movement along the border.

DIG Pushkar Karki, Director of Central Investigation Bureau from Nepal said that Honeypreet is not in Nepal currently, and there is no further information on her whereabouts.

Posters of Honeypreet with an appeal to the public to inform the police if she is sighted have been pasted on walls along streets and at the police station at Sonauli, in Maharajganj, close to the Nepal border.

A high alert has also been sounded in Lakhimpur, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Shrawasti and Bahraich — the other districts which border Nepal.

UP shares a 599.3 km long open border with Nepal touching seven districts — Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Sravasti, Balrampur, Sidhharthnagar and Maharajganj.

Women personnel in plain clothes have also been deployed to keep vigil on suspects and vehicles transporting goods too were being checked.

Patrolling of public places such as cinema halls, hotels, rail and bus stations has also been intensified. We are taking all precautionary steps to maintain law and order.

Honeypreet Insan was booked for allegedly inciting violence following the conviction of the self-styled godman, Haryana Police said on Tuesday.

Honeypreet was booked at Sector 5 police station in Panchkula. The police added her name in FIR number 345 as an accused in connection with the violence that erupted in Panchkula on 25 August.

When asked about reports that Honeypreet is in Nepal, the DGP said there was no concrete information in this regard.

"We are verifying all the information that we're getting," the DGP said. Several teams have been sent to different locations and the Haryana Police is in touch with other state police so as to track down Honeypreet.

Haryana Police has been questioning arrested Dera functionaries, including Dilawar Insan and Pradeep Goyal, for concrete information about her whereabouts. Dilawar, a key member of the Dera, was arrested from Sonipat, while Pradeep was nabbed from Udaipur in Rajasthan by Haryana Police.

On Monday, 18 September, the special investigation team of the Haryana Police questioned Dera Sacha Sauda's spokesperson Vipassana Insan in Sirsa about the whereabouts of Honeypreet.

Police initiated efforts to trace Honeypreet following the questioning of sect worker Surinder Dhiman Insan in connection with the alleged conspiracy to facilitate the Dera chief's escape after he was convicted for raping two women.

An FIR was earlier lodged in Panchkula police station following a statement by a newspaper reporter against Aditya Insan and Surinder Dhiman Insaan. The duo were booked for sedition.

Police said that they needed to question Honeypreet in connection with a few statements disclosed by Surinder. Police have already issued a lookout notice against Honeypreet and Aditya Insan.

Honeypreet had accompanied Ram Rahim when he was taken to Sunaria jail in Rohtak via chopper, following his conviction in the rape case on 25 August, following which she went into hiding.

The Dera head’s conviction saw violence erupt in Panchkula, which left 35 dead and six others killed in related incidents in Sirsa.
