NEET Counselling 2019: Important Dates, Procedure, Documents

The second round of counselling sessions will be conducted from 6 to 9 July 2019 if seats are vacant.

The first round of counselling for admission to medical and dental courses will start from 19 June 2019. It will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Eligible and interested candidates can apply on the official website. They can also apply to the counselling sessions at https://www.mcc.nic.in/

The second round of counselling sessions will be conducted between 6 July and 9 July 2019 if there are seats left vacant from the first round.

NEET is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) this year and 15,19,375 candidates had registered for the medical and dental courses this year. 14,10,754  candidates had appeared for the examination.

NEET Counselling 2019: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are eligible to apply for the counselling after qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The candidates need to secure at least 50% marks to apply for the counselling for NEET 2019; candidates from the SC/ST/OBC categories need to have secured at least 40% marks, while for the general-physically handicapped category, it is 45%.

A list of qualified candidates is released by the ministry every year– AIQ – excluding the candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, to take part in one bracket of common counselling.

NEET Counselling 2019: Procedure

First, registration and payments need to be made by the eligible candidates. The candidates will have to select and lock their courses and colleges of choice after submitting the fee.

The candidates get the seats on the basis of their preferences and merit. Candidates who make the fee payment on time and reserve their seats are selected. They will now have to appear at their reporting centre along with their documents and will have to clear a fitness test. The candidates finally selected are given admission whereas the rest are pushed to the later rounds. A list with the vacant seats will be published and the remaining candidates can submit fresh choices and counselling will be conducted for them.

NEET Counselling 2019: List of Documents

The candidates need to have the following documents for their NEET Counselling session:

  • Copy of downloaded NEET-MDS/PG 2019 admit card
  • NEET-MDS/PG 2019 marksheet
  • Nationality certificate/valid passport or school leaving certificate of HSC/Class 12 indicating the nationality of the candidate as “Indian”
  • BDS/MBBS degree
  • Internship completion certificate
  • Permanent / provisional registration certificate of Maharashtra Medical Council or other State Medical Councils in India/MCI
  • Certificate from Head of Institute showing that the college/ Institute from which the candidate has passed MBBS/MDS examination is recognised by Medical Council of India
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Copy of receipt of online fee payment

NEET UG Admissions 2019: EWS Quota

The EWS quota for the candidates from economically weaker section will be applicable for NEET UG admissions this year. The counselling authorities need to identify the institutions giving EWS quota and conduct counselling for these seats as a separate category - as had been notified by the NTA earlier.
