Over 16,000 students will reportedly benefit from 40 such buses.

The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday, 8 August, flagged off the 'World on Wheels' initiative – a bus with computers with internet facility, to help over 16,000 school children learn digital technology.

The bus is equipped with 20 computers, and is reportedly worth Rs 1 crore. It was gifted to the State Open School Education Board (SOSE) by the Entrepreneurship Development Authority in Hyderabad, reported The Times of India.

Over 16,000 students will reportedly benefit from 40 such buses.

Speaking to the newspaper, the state's school education minister Kunwar Vijay Singh said:

World on Wheels will play a major role in Digital India programme to impart education, especially to the children in rural areas.

The institute said that 40 such buses will be available and more than 16,000 school students benefit from this programme every year.

The bus reportedly aims not only to increase digital literacy but also build learning communities for high school and higher secondary students.

Solar panels have been installed on the bus to ensure continuous supply of electricity to computers. The aim is to create awareness about digital literacy.
