Vice President for Twitter in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East, Rishi Jaitley has announced that he will step down from his position.

In a series of tweets, Jaitley said he was moving on to “new opportunities.”

He added that because of a personal/civic commitment, he would have to spend a lot of time in Chicago, but didn’t elaborate on the reasons for his departure beyond that.

Jaitley also conveyed a dignified thanks to his colleagues and members of the organisation for their support in his journey of four years. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey however, didn’t find a mention.

Only last week, Twitter Inc announced that it would discontinue its video-sharing mobile app Vine, as it moves to cut nine percent of its workforce worldwide to keep costs down after beating Wall Street quarterly earnings expectations.
