The National Stock Exchange on Thursday recorded the highest-ever turnover in futures and option (F&O) segment at Rs 6.27 lakh crore on the expiry day of current month derivative contracts.
The total F&O traded value on Thursday stood at Rs 6.27 lakh crore, registering a jump of nearly 8 per cent over its earlier high of Rs 5.81 lakh crore recorded on February 26, 2015.
Meanwhile, the index options also touched a record high of Rs 4.9 lakh crore today. It had touched a record of Rs 4.62 lakh crore on February 26, 2015, NSE said in a statement.
The total F&O contracts traded value stood at 2,72,05,109 contracts -- a new high and the total number F&O trades also registered a record high of 64,65,358 trades, earlier record of 57,99,586 trades was on January 28, 2015.
In the equity market, the wide-based Nifty settled down 58.25 points or 0.71 per cent at 8,181.50.
