Verdict Is Wrong: Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s Supporters on His Conviction

Self-styled godman and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan was convicted of raping two women by the CBI court in Panchkula on 25 August.

Following the verdict, violence broke out in the region. Police are resorting to using tear gas to handle the growing mobs in Panchkula.

At least 11 people, including three Dera supporteres, have been reported dead, and over 10 injured in the violence. Media vehicles, including OB vans, have also been attacked.

New Delhi has also been put on high alert.

Post the verdict, the supporters, fuming with anger, united to fight what they claimed was a “one-sided judgment.”
