The legalised sale of marijuana isn't going down well in the Alaskan town of North Pole.

Most residents of the tiny town have voted to outlaw the sale of marijuana.

Among the people who are in favour of medical marijuana is Santa Claus. Yes, the Santa Claus who resides in North Pole.

The deeply religious man, who is a monk, has been a city councillor, and worked in law enforcement, has officially changed his name to “Santa Claus” because he is a child advocate.

Despite the irony, the child advocate is now speaking out against North Pole's Proposition 7, which outlaws the sale of marijuana within regional limits.

What many don’t not know is that Santa is a cancer patient and marijuana helps him ease his pain. With the ban on sale, Santa will have to grow his own marijuana.

If I’m using it for my medical purposes then I don’t see the negative associations. Instead of embracing the spirit of love, I think what they’re doing is spreading hate which comes from fear.
