She’s been waiting for over two years, but Dr Sunitha CK says the “house of her dreams” remains a distant reality. Angered and frustrated, she wrote in to The Quint. Bengaluru-based Sunitha, who owns a homeopathic clinic, complained against Dreamz Infra Limited – a real estate company – for failing to deliver her flat.

On World Consumer Rights Day, 15 March, The Quint asked homebuyers who were defrauded to step up and vent out any grievances or queries they may have.

Sunitha’s Voice

I saw an advertisement of Dreamz Infra India and decided to purchase the property. I had enrolled with DreamzGK company for a 3-BHK flat on June 2016. The original cost of the flat was Rs 33 lakh, but because of Ugadi, they had rolled out a special offer and reduced the price to Rs 30 lakh.

The builder also assured me that I wouldn’t get a better deal anywhere else. They told me that a lot of ex-servicemen had invested – and since my father is also an ex-army personnel, I considered it a safe bet.

The builder made the offer more tempting by telling me that the total cost of the apartment would further go down to Rs 26 lakh if I paid a certain amount in cash.

I immediately agreed to it. I first paid Rs 11.5 lakh, but I wanted a certain flat number, which they said they would only assign if I paid Rs 1.5 lakh more. So in all, I paid them Rs 13 lakh. They assured that it would be ready for occupancy in December 2017.

Last November, I went to see the progress of my flat in Vidyaranyapura Singapura. But to my horror, all I saw was barren land and stalled construction.

All I saw was tin fences. All access points to the building were completely sealed off. Such was not the case when I visited it in September 2017. In fact, in September, we could even check the materials the builder was using for the flat. But all this changed in a span of two months. It’s so depressing that you save for your dream house and then nothing comes out of it.

It’s 2018 now. I’ve paid 50 percent of the total amount, and there is still no sign of construction.

A police complaint was filed against the real estate company.

I’ve also filed a case with Madivala police station and hope that some action is taken against the builders. But all that the police say is “wait and you’ll get justice. It will take its course”.

For me, it doesn’t end here. I have to pay the lawyer for every court hearing that takes place and I don’t even know for how long this will go on. All I can do is wait and hope justice prevails. Please help!

The Quint Finds Out

Dreamz Infra Limited (the developer of the project) is allegedly at the centre of a Rs 1,500 crore scam. Its owner Sachin Naik, alias Sumanth Kumar Das alias Yogesh Choudhary, faces 23 FIRs in relation to Dreamz GK and other development projects. The Karnataka CID has not yet filed a chargesheet in the case and he is currently out on bail.

Sachin Naik’s name does not feature on any of the official documents; instead the names of his former wife Disha Choudhary and his current wife Mandeep Kaur appear on all the official documents in the capacity of Managing Directors of the company.

In Response To Sunitha’s Mail

The Quint contacted Dreamz Infra Limited but the emails sent to their official accounts bounced back.

We also tried reaching out to them through phone numbers listed on various documents and official portals but none of these numbers were reachable. This story will be updated with their response.

Is Sunitha The Only One?

Sunitha CK is not the only alleged victim of Dreamz Infra Limited. The Quint received at least three other complaints against the same developer, which we will publish in due course as part of our campaign for World Consumer Rights Day 2018.
