Today was an important day for us Thanekars. We were finally going to step out to cast our vote. All ready, I left home around 9 in the morning, so that I could go to my polling booth, cast my vote and head to work.

My polling booth was at Patlipada Municipal school, Thane. I reached around 9:30 am and as soon as I reached, I was informed by the booth officer in charge that due to some technical error, the EVM machine had stopped working. They said it would take some time to set up a new one.

At 11:30 am, there was still no sign of a working EVM. Voters like me who were waiting outside for their turn to vote were getting anxious. Again, we asked them when the EVM would be fixed. The officials had the same response as before.

Unfortunately, unlike other voters, I couldn’t wait for too long. I had an important meeting at Powai. So, I left my polling booth after two hours, around 11.30 am.

But I would like to admit that the Thane Police did a fine job in handling the tired voters outside polling booth no: 4. The police staff were on guard and ensured that there would be no chaos or any kind of confusion.

By afternoon, I got to know that the EVM was replaced and people could finally get to vote. But, I lost out on the time I had and failed to cast my vote this Lok Sabha Election 2019.
