My aim is to climb the 7 highest peaks, one in each continent and spread awareness with the message - Clean Ganga and Save Himalayas.
— Saachi Soni
22 year old Saachi Soni is from Jaipur, Rajasthan and is currently studying journalism.
Saachi started mountaineering and adventure sports at the young age of seven. She recently scaled North America’s Mt Mckinley (Denali), one of the 10 most dangerous mountains in the world.
This mountain was absolutely different from the other mountains that I have climbed so far and Alaska is a beautiful place. It is also higher than Everest in terms of base-to-peak rise.
Mount McKinley has lower barometric pressure than other mountains, which affects climbers. There is less oxygen at the summit, compared to other mountains.
Mt. McKinley (Denali) is climbed alpine style and there are no porters or sherpas available to carry the group gears, so I was lugging around 58 kgs which is more than my weight.
Some of the other expeditions undertaken by Saachi are;
- Mt. Everest 2013 (climbed upto 26,000 ft), Nepal
- Mt. Elbrus (Europe’s highest peak), Russia
- Mt. Deo Tibba, India
- Mt. Renok, India
- Mt. Bandarpunch, India
- Aussie 10 challenge - Climbing 10 highest peaks situated in the Mount Kosciusko National Park
- Mt. Draupadi Ka Danda
