Mr G is a professional gigolo.
We discovered him on LinkedIn.
And here’s the ad that led us to him:

Enjoy my services once, and I assure that you will need them again & again.

Now, you wouldn’t expect a profile like this to pop up on one of the world’s largest “professional” networking websites, would you?
But just type in ‘gigolos in India’ on LinkedIn – and a hundred such profiles will flood your page. Each with very similar descriptions, each with one aim – to get clients.
When we first got in touch with Mr G, he was convinced that I was a prospective client. I assured him I wasn’t and that I just wanted a conversation. He obliged – and went on to spill some of the darkest, best-kept secrets I had heard.
How Do Gigolos Work?
First, a little about the man.
Mr G is 25, and has an MBA degree. Yet working as a gigolo enables him to earn between 2 and 3 lakhs a month.
It all started on a Yahoo chat room. One fine day, as he sat looking through profiles and ‘pinging’ people, a series of messages popped up on his screen. These were messages that advertised gigolo services to women.
Impulsively, he tried the same thing. No sooner had he sent out his ‘ad’, than a lady from Gurgaon replied. She was interested, she said, and offered to pay him Rs 5,000.
How long has he been at it?
About 4 years, he tells me – also explaining that he offers both ‘sexual’ and ‘platonic’ services to rich women (below the age of 35).
Mr G’s ways of working are meticulous: he uses LinkedIn to constantly update his profile. He regularly sends personal messages to contacts and also posts about the services he provides.
One of his pitches? ‘Complete privacy and satisfaction – at a very reasonable price’.
Mr G wasn’t the only one we spoke to. Yet another LinkedIn user we reached out to told me that he travels all over India to provide sex and massages to his clients.
No, he wasn’t as explicit as Mr G. He described himself as ‘a hospitality guy’ and promised ‘complete relaxation of body and mind at a nominal price’.
26-year-old Hospitality Guy is completely invested in this business and even as I spoke to him, he insisted that I try him once to have an experience of a lifetime.

The internet is flooded with ads and websites like these. Online agencies that hire gigolos ask young boys to deposit a registration fee – promising to provide clients in return. But all is not as rosy as it seems.
Mr G tells me how most of these sites don’t even have any clients and just look for young guys who are desperate for sex, in order to make money.
After having duped gigolo-hopefuls of their money, they sit in peace, knowing that the young boys will never file a complaint for fear of public embarrassment.
The exploitation doesn’t stop there. Sometimes the pimps who contact young boys through these websites will force them to have sex with men, film the act – and then threaten to go public with the recordings.
Pick-up Points and Gigolo Codes
Through my conversations with Mr G and Hospitality Guy, I realised a very important thing – for a gigolo, keeping a customer is actually tougher than finding one.
They tell me that they need to ensure the client is absolutely satiated – because once that happens, they can count on being hired. Over and over again.
A gigolo needs to know about pleasure. Not his pleasure, but her pleasure. And once a woman finds a ‘good gigolo’ – they tell me – she’ll stick with him.
How pricey is said satisfaction?
For a new customer, Mr G charges Rs 1,000 – but for regular customers, who are addicted to his services, he charges Rs 5,000.
Mr. G makes most of his big bucks through group encounters such as parties that rich women organise in uptown localities like Vasant Vihar.
DLF Promenade is popularly known as one out of the many pickup points for gigolos in Delhi.
Yet, Mr. G never felt the need to use any of the pickup points as most of his clients come from references, WhatsApp or LinkedIn.
Perhaps, the image of the male escort carrying a ‘red handkerchief’ no longer holds true.
The gigolos of today are open and vocal about their profession and need no codes.
