Kajari Teej is celebrated with much excitement in the northern states of India. It is mainly celebrated by women in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthanon the Tritiya or the third day of Bhadrapada month of the Hindu calendar. Kajari Teej is to be celebrated on 18 August 2019 in India.
It is believed that by worshiping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with complete devotion and keeping fast without consuming food or water, the married women are blessed with their husbands’ long and healthy lives whereas, unmarried girls are blessed with good husbands.
Kajari Teej: Significance
Kajari Teej is also known as Badi Teej, Satudi Teej, Kajali Teej and Budhi Teej. As per popular belief, after years of strict austerities, Goddess Parvati got to be with Lord Shiva on Kajari Teej. Thus, it is believed that women get desired husbands if they pray and keep a fast on Kajari Teej.
Kajari Teej: Shubh Muhurat
Where Kajari Teej is on 18 August, the shubh muhurat is likely to begin at 10:48 pm on 17 August 2019 and the muhurat is likely to end at 1:13 am on 19 August 2019.
On the day of Kajari Teej, women make idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. They are then worshipped as per the tradition. It is advised to avoid wearing black and white clothes on this day. Wearing red or green coloured clothes is believed to be auspicious.
