What do you usually call an average 26-year-old? A millennial, right? And millennials have long been suffering the image that has been painted of them – socially overactive, high-maintenance, and self- absorbed. Thanks to all the bad rep they get on the internet.
But Ishita Matharu is not your average 26-year-old. Right on the heels of chucking a job with an American multinational technology company, Ishita dived headlong in to her entrepreneurial venture. Her philosophy is simple – i Create my own world. And in her world, there are no distinctions and no restrictions. No debates around what a girl can or can’t do.
i CREATE
She started Mechenex, in 2015, an aggregator that builds a base of automobile repair workshops and mechanics, and connects them directly to the customer. For this new venture, she enrolled in a course certified by Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) to understand the task at hand fully. According to her, “grease stains are glamourous”.
i WORK
Ishita’s love for cars helps her understand her customers as well. She believes that she speaks the same language as that of cars – the language of style and power. She works closely with the mechanics in her database despite being told to ‘watch out for unsafe areas’; ‘to look for work options other than working with mechanics’ etc.
i PLAY
Ishita, also has another passion. For somebody who was initiated into martial arts at the age of 3, Krav Maga was a natural progression. To make her body strong and mind even stronger, Ishita has been practising Krav Maga for the past 8 years and has successfully become an instructor. She believes her sport, her fighting technique helps her zone in on her goals.
‘No challenge too big, no fight too small’ is Ishita’s credo, and it is how she creates her own world.
