Fashion weeks are a tense affair. There’s always a lot happening - on and off the ramp. Most of the times there are back to back shows lined up and sometimes they overlap. But have you ever thought about the models who walk the ramp? Well, on stage it looks like all they have to do is look pretty and just walk to the head of the ramp, but we got some models from the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 to tell us what the experience of walking the ramp is really like.

What was their first ramp walk like? Did they ever forget the choreography on the ramp? Were there times when their shoes created a hassle or was it the outfit?

What Happens Backstage?

They say that there are times when they are supposed to walk the ramp, but they don’t get the right shoe size and sometimes their dress doesn’t fit either. There are always at least five people working on a model before they walk the ramp.

Crazy Shoe and Dress Stories from Backstage

One of the designers had made my outfit really tight on the waist. I couldn’t even breathe. But in the pictures it looked stunning. It was really snug and suffocating, but when the pictures came out I was really happy about it.

So I think I was the last girl and they had to put a drawstring on my lehenga, and the designer forgot. Because it was so chaotic, she asked me to go and I had to. I went on the ramp and the lehenga was so heavy and I could feel it going down.
