A year after Shashi Tharoor’s widely celebrated (and viral) speech at the Oxford Debate, his new book ‘An Era of Darkness: The British Empire in India’ is expected to pull out the debate over colonial reparations from underneath the rug.

What does England owe us? And would we have been better off if we’d never been colonised?
