If you’re an Indian and you’re reading this at work, you probably have the longest working hours in the world.

A new report states that Indian millennials spend the most time in their offices, working an average of 52 hours per week, while in Japan – even with its hardworking culture – the average is 46 hours a week.

The United Kingdom and Australia, however, have standard working hours of 41 hours per week.

Responding to the study, a Harvard Business Review article says that this unhealthy trend of employers wanting “employees to put in long days, and respond to their emails at all hours, and willingly donate their off-hours – nights, weekends, vacation –without complaining” might actually backfire.

Instead of better output, overworked employees may often end up being less productive.

The report also states that:

Twenty-seven percent expect to work over the age of 70, and 12 percent say they will likely work until the day they die.
