Chanderi, the town nestled amongst hills and lakes in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh, has a namesake as legacy - a beautiful handloom coveted by many a wardrobes.
Weaving in Chanderi (town) dates back to the second century when the silk, zari, and cotton worked their magic on kora kapda. Post industrial era saw an infusion of bright colours that made the buyers’ eyes sparkle.
Fashion designers, like Rahul Mishra, have played a remarkable part in revival of handloom like Chanderi and made them more accessible globally.

Typically, a Chanderi saree costs between 15-50K rupees. Rahul Mishra, fashion desginer, and his team have worked extensively in re-engineering the garment. With the handloom being re-interpreted as affordable dresses, trench coats, lehengas, and kurtis, the resonance of this particular weave has increased.
