Kolkata Knight Riders were in the market for a skipper after releasing Eoin Morgan following the 2021 IPL season. While KKR have not mentioned anything, they did pick up Shreyas Iyer, who could be a captaincy candidate for the team.
They retained four players - Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Vekatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy which means they started the auction with a Rs 48 crore left to buy the rest of their line-up.
KKR finished the auction with Rs 45 lakh left, having signed up 25 players, the maximum any team can have in their squad.
All franchises were allowed an auction spending cap of Rs 90 crore by the IPL Governing Council. There is also a Rs 67.5 crore minimum spending limit.
