In another case of mob savagery, six people were assaulted by suspected cow vigilantes on Friday night in Jharoda village of southwest Delhi.
According to a Hindustan Times report, 25-year-old Shokin Ali, his brother, nephew and others were ferrying 17 buffalo calves from Jhajjar, Haryana to Ghazipur when they were intercepted by a policeman who asked them for money.

They were then overpowered by the “60-70-strong” mob who tied them up and thrashed them. The police came to their rescue two hours later.
“Some policemen were also roughed up but it is because of them that we are alive today,” he said.
Shaken Ali’s family said that they have been transporting buffaloes or calves for the last 30 years and had “never faced any problem”.
His father Ali Jaan told HT:
How is it a sin? If people don’t sell these animals to us, then we won’t buy them. People selling buffaloes to us are both Hindus and Muslims.
