1. Rains Flood Streets, 16 Flights Diverted
Mumbai witnessed heavy showers on Monday night as the muchawaited southwest monsoon hit Maharashtra, flooding streets, triggering traffic jams and throwing flight schedule into a tizzy.
While there were intermittent showers since the past 24 hours, heavy rains started after 8.30pm. The Colaba observatory recorded 94 mm of rainfall while Santa Cruz observatory witnessed 74 mm.

2. Bandra Skywalk To Be Pulled Down For Metro Line 2b
A major part of the skywalk to be dismantled, residents scoff at poor planning.
A large portion of the Rs 28.74-crore skywalk on SV Road in Bandra (West), which is used by around 30,000 people during morning and evening rush hours every day, will be dismantled to make way for the Metro 2B line.
The 864-metre structure, which was thrown open to public in July 2010, runs from platform No. one at Bandra station to SV Road and has two arms — one extending up to the Bandra Talao and the other reaching Badi Masjid.

3. Maharashtra SSC Results Likely To Be Out On June 13
If you've been waiting for the SSC results all through this week, you might have to hold on a little longer. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has said the results are likely to be out on June 13.

Over the last few days, several SSC result dates have been doing the rounds on social media. Putting these rumours to rest, MSBSHSE has issued a statement, saying, "The State board has yet not declared any date for declaring the result of SSC 2017. Yet, there are different dates being circulated on social media. None of those are official and hence, students and parents should not believe them. We will declare the SSC 2017 result in the next week."

4. Pan-India Drug Racket Busted In Mumbai, 75 Kgs Weed Seized
In a successful collaboration, Telangana cops and the Mumbai police have apprehended two drug dealers from Jogeshwari and seized 75 kg weed worth lakhs.
Two other members of the drug racket, however, managed to escape.
City police sources said the Hyderabad cops were acting on a tip-off on a huge consignment of contraband being smuggled via road. "We intercepted an i10 and detained two smugglers from Jogeshwari. The duo had received the drugs from smugglers in Hyderabad.

5. Leopard Attacks Dog Outside Aarey Girls’ Hostel In Mumbai
A sub-adult leopard jumped a 7ft-high compound-wall and a barbed wire fence to attack a dog on the steps of the Bombay Veterinary College (BVC) girls’ hostel on early Friday morning.
Officials from the college confirmed and shared the CCTV video of the incident with HT on Monday.
The hostel is located within Aarey Colony and is close to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, which is known to have 35 free-roaming leopards.

6. Actor Kritika Chaudhary Found Dead in Her Mumbai Residence

Actor Kritika Chaudhary, who was last seen in the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Rajjo, has been found dead in her Andheri residence. Further details are awaited.
Hailing from Haridwar, Krutika got her break in the 2011 Ekta Kapoor soap Parichay-Nayee Zindagi Ke Sapno Ka, but reportedly was unhappy with how her role shaped up. She was then seen in Rajjo (2013).
7. Pawar Asks Farmers To Unite Against Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday asked farmers to unite against the proposed Mumbai-Nagpur super expressway, a pet project of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis which will require a huge amount of land from farmers.
Pawar also slammed the government for not conducting a survey for the project.
The farmers have formed a committee, Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti (SSS), to oppose the project.

8. Don’t Dump Gadgets, Recycle Them: 40 Mumbai Societies Show To Do It, Collect 700 kg Of E-Waste
As the city struggles to dispose of its electronic waste (e-waste) safely, 40 housing societies and two educational institutes from Chembur, Sion and Matunga collected and recycled 700kg of e-waste over the past two weeks to mark World Environment Day.
The group Eco-Rox and Adhata Trust, which runs a welfare centre for senior citizens along with the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai, carried out the e-waste collection drive from the last week of May to June 5. It encouraged citizens not to send their e-waste to dumping grounds as it contains toxic ingredients that can contaminate the soil, water and air.

9. Minara Masjid: First Shrine In Mumbai To Use Solar Energy Cuts Power Bill By Half
In the month of Ramzan, the iconic Minara Masjid is decked up in bright green lights and has thousands thronging it for prayers. It might seem like an uphill task for the mosque to manage its electricity expenses but the reality is quite the opposite.
Over the past four months, the mosque located at Mohammad Ali Road has been saving half of its electricity bill amount after installing a 15 kilowatt power solar panel on its roof in January. “After the installation of the meter and other amenities, the entire system started functioning from February,” said Abdul Wahab, trustee, Minara Masjid trust. “Our monthly electricity bill has cut down to Rs 25,000 as opposed to Rs 50,000 that we had to pay before the solar power installation. We have already saved a lakh in four months by going green.”

10. Riders Slam ‘Sly’ Metro For Sneaking In Rs 10 ‘Fare Hike’
Versova-Ghatkopar commuters started the week by gulping down an unannounced hike — the result of a rollback of discounts on return trips — before taking to social media to vent.
Monday blues deepened for Metro riders yesterday when they were asked to shell out Rs 10 more for a full-span round trip, a hike that train operator Mumbai Metro One Private Limited quietly snuck into the tariff slabs without formally announcing it to passengers.
