BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra staunchly believes news channel NDTV has an anti-BJP agenda. He made his sentiment clear in a tweet on Sunday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson cited a Pakistani web portal to attack NDTV on Sunday.

Patra re-tweeted a story by the Times of Islamabad on Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Make in India initiative.’

The tweet came only a few days after Patra was asked to leave an NDTV show being anchored by Nidhi Razdan, after he accused the channel of having an agenda against him and his party.

But there’s a slight problem. Patra seems to have fallen for a ‘fake news’ story.

Immediately after Patra’s tweet, NDTV pointed out that the story is untrue and demanded a clarification.

The Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson cited a Pakistani web portal to attack NDTV on Sunday.

The article that Times of Islamabad mentions was actually a column written by former Union minister P Chidambaram, according to a report in The Wire. After NDTV took to Twitter to call out the article, the Pakistani web portal removed the channel’s name from the piece.

What’s also interesting is that Times of Islamabad has courted controversy more than a few times for running fake news stories.

The Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson cited a Pakistani web portal to attack NDTV on Sunday.

The portal is also the same that ran the 16 May article which got the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Paresh Rawal to tweet against Arundhati Roy, asking that she be tied to a jeep, suggesting that she should be used as a human shield.
