The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday announced the results of Class XII examination. They can be accessed at: http://www.cbseresults.nic.in/.
Raksha Gopal, from Amity International School, Noida, topped the Class XII Board exams with 99.6 percent marks. Bhumi Sawant came in second, with 99.4 percent, followed by Aditya Jain and Mannat Luthra, with 99.2 percent.
The all-India pass percentage has gone down from 83.05 percent to 82 percent this year, a senior CBSE official said.
The board has launched a helpline with toll-free number 18000118004 for psychological counselling post the Class XII board results.“65 counsellors will talk to students and parents on the helpline between 8 am to 10 pm,” the official said.

Marks Moderation Row
The results come days after speculation that the CBSE would approach the Supreme Court with a Special Leave Petition challenging the Delhi High Court’s order in the marks moderation policy. The reports led to uncertainty and confusion among parents and students awaiting the Class XII results.
The CBSE confirmed that it complied with the Delhi High Court order and retained its marks 'moderation' policy for the board results this year.
On 24 April 2017, the CBSE along with 31 other school boards decided to scrap its controversial ‘moderation’ policy, which is criticised for increasing marks of different students by different amounts, resulting in an unfair and unequal system of marking. However, hearing a petition that argued that states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have decided to implement the policy change only from 2018, the Delhi High Court had ordered the CBSE to go ahead with ‘moderation’ of marks of students this year.
Conclusive data analysis of CBSE results over the past decade has shown that the board was inflating students’ marks unequally through its moderation policy – that is, marks of different students were being raised by different amounts.
Highest Number of Candidates in Delhi
The CBSE is hosting its result on the internet and with technical support of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Government of India.
The board announced the results of all its 10 regions simultaneously. The Delhi region has the highest number of candidates (2,58,321), followed by Panchkula with 1,84,557 and Ajmer with 1,31,449 candidates. A total of 2,497 candidates under disabilities also registered for the exam this year.
