After Paresh Rawal’s tweet on Arundhati Roy had kicked up a storm of debate on the micro-blogging site, the actor-turned-politician deleted the tweet soon after.
According to NDTV, the actor released a statement which read:
With this letter, I inform to all my supporters and citizens of this country that I am being coerced to delete something I tweeted on 21 May, or else Twitter would block my account.
Rawal’s tweet had read “Instead of tying stone-pelter on the Army jeep tie Arundhati Roy !”, referring to Major Gogoi’s controversial act of having tied a Kashmiri to a jeep as a ‘human shield’ against the stone-pelters.
Rawal‘s tweet came after fake reports of Roy having given an interview to a Pakistani newspaper emerged, where she had allegedly supported the cause for a separate Kashmir.
The tweet is no longer available on Twitter.
