UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed News18 Network's 'Rising UP' event on Tuesday, where he touched upon a number of issues – ranging from Ayodhya's Ram Temple, gau rakshaks, triple talaq, and his government's performance in the last two months.

On cow vigilantism, Adityanath said that "no one should take the law into his or her hands", reported News18.

However, he said that one cannot generalise and paint the image of gau rakshaks as negative, adding that "great work" is being carried out by them.

He also lashed out against the practice of triple talaq, whose validity is currently under discussion in the Supreme Court, calling it "orthodox and "outdated".

The chief minister was quoted as saying:

Every day I meet 25-30 Muslim women who are victims of triple talaq. My government is with Muslim women on this issue.

Days after he called Babur and Humayun invaders, Adityanath said they were not the ancestors of Indian Muslims.

He further stressed that the Ram temple issue should be resolved through dialogue.

On the issue of anti-Romeo squads, he said:

We tried to counsel people who used to harass our girls. But we’re going to take the anti-Romeo squads to another level.

Adityanath also reacted to the recent violence in Saharanpur and accused Mayawati of "desperately using caste politics".

He also took a dig at the previous Samajwadi Party government of Akhilesh Yadav, saying how his government has improved the dismal law and order situation of the state.
