On Wednesday, the United Nations declined to comment on the death sentence given to Kulbhushan Jadhav by Pakistan on the pretext of being an Indian spy.
It cited that it was not in the position to judge the case, as reported by Dawn, on a question asked by an Indian journalist at a press briefing.

“Overall in terms of relations between India and Pakistan, we underline and continue to underline the need for the parties to find a peaceful solution and to engage through engagement and dialogue”, said the spokesperson.
Dujarric called for a dialogue between the two nations, following the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following Jadhav’s sentencing.
On Tuesday, Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif said that Jadhav has 60 days to appeal against his sentence.
Indian ministers Rajnath Singh and Sushma Swaraj have commented on the issue with the latter saying that appeals will be made to the President to get the sentence removed. The External Affairs Minister also said that if Pakistan goes ahead with the execution, the bilateral ties of the nations will be affected.
On Monday, Pakistan’s military court charged Jadhav with sabotage and terrorism related charges.
