The decapitated body of a retired professor of the Madurai Kamaraj University was found in a bush near Tamil Nadu’s Musiri on Sunday, according to The Hindu. The car, which the victim was reportedly using to travel, was found abandoned near the crime spot.

According to reports, the victim has been identified as 61-year-old Krishnan, and investigations indicated enmity over a property dispute as the reason for the brutal murder.

Local residents allegedly saw the torso with severe cut injuries on the chest and stomach. The Times of India further reported that internal organs such as intestines were found ripped.

Krishnan had reportedly been holding 5.5 acres of land at Kovakkulam, and there was personal enmity between the victim and a few locals.

The murder could have been a fallout of the dispute, the police suspect. At least four men are believed to be involved in the murder.

According to reports, police found an Aadhaar card of Krishnan and a driving license inside the car, which had a punctured rear tyre. Following his wife's death a few years ago, the retired professor was residing with his son in Madurai.

He had left Madurai a few days back to visit Krishnarayapuram taluk in Karur district, in connection with a marriage proposal for his son. He was reportedly missing since then.

Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were reportedly brought to the crime scene and Musiri police have registered a case of murder. The body has been shifted to a Tiruchi Government hospital for post-mortem.
