MSRDC aims to set up solid waste management and treatment plants that converts wet waste into manure.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has decided to take steps to convert leftover food from expressway food malls into manure, reported Mid-Day.

The corporation will reuse the tons of food generated at these malls in an eco-friendly way. It aims to set up solid waste management and treatment plants that would convert wet waste into manure.

The MSRDC has invited tenders "for the appointment of a contractor for supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the plants", senior MSRDC officials told Mid-Day.

On their part, the food plaza owners will be asked to separate their waste – the dry waste will be sent to the nearest landfill and the wet waste will be turned into compost.
