A day after Delhi Police filed a Forensic Science Laboratory report in a sexual harassment case against RK Pachauri, it has emerged that the FSL has rejected the ex-TERI chief’s claim that he had been a victim of hacking.

The FSL has said that no malware or spyware had tampered with the “obscene’ text messages and emails that Pachauri allegedly sent to a former colleague who has accused him of sexual harassment, CNN News18 reported.

The FSL report states that there were no suspicious activities on the computer, iPad, or email account that Pachauri used.

The “obscene” emails and WhatsApp messages filed in the FSL report were identical to those submitted to police by the complainant. The emails and messages can now be used as evidence in court to in the trial against the renowned environmentalist.

Police had chargesheeted the former The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) chief under the Indian Penal Code’s sections 354A (advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures), 354B (using criminal force against a woman), 354D (stalking), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 341 (wrongful restraint).

On 8 February 2016, Pachauri was appointed executive vice chairman of the organisation. Following severe criticism, he went on indefinite leave from the organisation on 12 February 2016.

The woman researcher who accused him of sexual harassment in November quit her job at TERI, alleging she had been treated badly. TERI has denied the charges.
