Days after "withdrawing" her petition to Chief Justice of India Justice JS Khehar, late Arunchal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul's first widow has now approached the offices of Vice-President Hamid Ansari, demanding a probe at the "highest level" into charges of bribe-taking by the two topmost judges of the Supreme Court.

Dangwimsai Pul handed over the letter to Ansari when she met him in his official residence in New Delhi on Tuesday. Activists Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav and Harsh Mander were reportedly present, too.

“Given the gravity of the allegations contained in the note and the fact that many of them are from his personal knowledge and that a suicide note is treated like a dying declaration, this matter needs to be seriously investigated by a credible investigation team,” she wrote in the letter.

Since it also involves the Chief Justice and another sitting Judge of the Supreme Court, to protect the independence of the judiciary, it should not be investigated by any investigative body controlled by the government.

The full letter was made public on the Campaign For Judicial Accountability and Judicial Reforms’ website.

The suicide note of Pul has caused quite a stir for alleging that the sitting Chief Justice of India, President Pranab Mukherjee and other politicians indulged in corrupt practices.

The late CM also alleged that top members of the legal fraternity asked him to pay bribes amounting to crores of rupees. He also attempted to expose the alleged corruption of Congress leaders.
