The alleged abduction and sexual assault on a leading Malayalam actress may involve others besides the seven criminals identified by police and the name of a prominent actor has reportedly cropped up in the probe.
Two sons of a senior leader of a party that is a member of the ruling Left Democratic Front are also allegedly under the police lens. The state government has said that the in the case conspiracy angle will be probed.
Malayalam film star Dileep’s name has been dragged into the controversy. However, he has lashed out at certain sections of the media for spreading false information, Manorama Online reported.

It was reported that a Kerala police team recorded the statement of a popular Malayalam actor. But the identity of the actor has not been made public.
The policed investigation has also pointed to a top actor’s involvement and that it was at his instance a gang of seven people abducted and sexually abused the actress, according to DNA.
The report says the actress was extremely close to the actor in question and his wife. But she had a fallout with him after she took the wife’s side in a dispute that led to the couple’s legal separation. He then had a bone to pick with her and being highly influential in the Malayalam film industry, stopped her from getting films.
The actress was forced to seek projects in Tamil and Kannada films because of the tiff. But she later started getting opportunities in the industry again, which allegedly led to the attack.
Police said so far three persons – Vadival Salim, Pradeep and Martin – have been arrested in connection with the case.
All three have been remanded in judicial custody by a magistrate’s court in Aluva.
The actress was allegedly harassed inside her car for two hours by the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle and later escaped in a busy area in Kochi.
