Pakistan violated the ceasefire along the KG sector in Kashmir around 5 PM on Thursday. Heavy shelling was witnessed and exchange of fire is still underway in the 190 km sensitive region.
Latest reports indicate no casualties to Indian troops. HM Rajnath Singh has spoken to Border Security Forces DG on the violation and heavy shelling, and has asked him to give a befitting response to the Pakistani troops.
Rajouri sector has also been subjected to intense shelling by Pakistani forces.
Never Seen Such Intense Firing By Pakistan: Locals
Locals claim that such intense firing from Pakistan has never been seen in the sector before.
This has never happened before, such heavy firing from Pakistan. People have left the village. Everyone is so scared.
However, SHO Rajouri, Younis Choudhary has said that the Indian security forces are concerned about the locals and are taking all measures to avert any casualties.
We are ready, dont want any casualties. This is heavy shelling. Have asked locals to stay indoors.
BSF Says It Killed Pak Ranger, Lost a Jawan Jammu
Earlier in the day, in escalation of armed confrontation on the International Border, BSF on Thursday said it had killed a Pakistani paramilitary jawan and wounded another while it lost one of its own personnel and 9 civilians were injured in Pakistan shelling and firing in Jammu region.
Pakistani forces pounded Indian border outposts and hamlets along the International Border in Kathua, Hiranagar sectors in Kathua district, RS Pura and Arnia sectors (Jammu), it also targets forward Indian posts and villages along LOC in Balakote and Mankote sectors (Poonch) and Sunderbani sector (Rajouri).
