Narendra Modi has never made us doubt his star power. Recently, an India Today poll, conducted to determine the most popular Indian political leaders, delivered results that will justify our claim.
Modiji Overrides All
According to the August 2016 Mood of the Nation poll, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity has remained intact. Half way into his first term as the Prime Minister, he has bounced back ,with 50 percent of the votes, after his government’s popularity fell in the previous polls.
While Rahul Gandhi has secured the second place, with 13 percent of the votes, Sonia Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal are on third and fourth position, respectively, for the candidate best suited to be the next Prime Minister.
The survey said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will get 304 seats in the Lok Sabha in elections held now compared to 336 seats the coalition got in 2014.
Sample Size and Methodology
The India Today Group-Karvy Insights poll was conducted by Karvy Insights Limited. A total of 12,321 interviews were conducted, spread across 97 parliamentary constituencies in 194 assembly constituencies in 19 states-Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The survey followed the righthand rule of household selection. Fieldwork was conducted from 15-27 July 2016. All interviews were conducted face to face using a standard structured interview schedule/questionnaire.
The poll also voted the late Indira Gandhi as the best Prime Minister ever, followed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi.
